Tuesday, March 5th, 2013 It’s Read an e-book week!
You can get the details at the Read an Ebook Week web site if you’re interested, but the general idea is to get people who’ve never read an ebook to give one a try. Lots of people are giving away free reads, myself included.
Head on over to Smashwords to get my story, “The Dragon’s Clause, in any format you like. The coupon code is: NV79A.
Click here to get The Dragon’s Clause at Smashwords.
If you’ve never used Smashwords, you have to click on the “buy” link to load the book in your cart. Then, you’ll be able to enter the coupon and see the price zeroed out.
The coupon expires at the end of the week.
Thanks for reading!
Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 Is there anyone out there well-versed in Smashwords who can give me a hand?
I’ve just posted my short story, The Dragon’s Clause, so that lots of folks can read it natively on their hardware, but I’m not happy with the way the formatting has turned out.
The title, front matter and end notes sometimes slip into a san-serif font in some versions of the book.
I’ve combed through the Smashwords Style Guide for hints, even going as far as trying the “nuclear” method for formatting, and no matter what, the fonts keep changing.
But after 15 uploads, I’m tired of trying. I need a little help. 🙂
If you can help me figure out how to make it right, I’ll send you a t-shirt bearing the cover of The Dragon’s Clause. If that doesn’t interest you, I’ll be happy to send you a copy of my story, On the Path. It was published in the Parsec Inc. Anthology, Triangulation: Dark Glass, a few years ago, and will be my next experiment on Smashwords.
Drop me a line via email if you can help. Thanks!
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 I’m not joking.
Once again, I’m walking on air!
(This follows very closely on the heels of the 5-star review I received on Amazon for my novella, Blood Soup. I’m very excited.)
This is the story of a man who violates the terms of a contract, and the “party of the second part” decides to execute the enforcement clause. Only this time, the contract has been in place for hundreds of years, and is between a town and a dragon.
The terms—pay the dragon annual tribute, and he doesn’t destroy the town—are quite simple. Not the sort of agreement you’d want to break, even for a good cause.
A lesser author would have given readers a simple revenge tale, with the moral being, “keep your word.” But Kelly A. Harmon gives her readers much more. Her characters—both human and dragon—are complex and subtle, with nobilities and strengths that might just outweigh their instincts and weaknesses.
Perhaps The Dragon’s Clause should be required reading for all lawyers…and for you!
You can check out the review on Amazon, if you want. While you’re there, check out my Amazon author page.
Note: The Dragon’s Clause was originally published in the Ricasso Press anthology, Black Dragon, White Dragon.
Thursday, February 18th, 2010 I’ll be reading at the Library of Congress in March with a bunch of writing giants! (Or, should I say Amazons, since they’re all women?) I’m very excited!
There’s going to be a book signing afterward. My first “official” signing. It couldn’t happen at a cooler place.
Of course I’ll be reading from Blood Soup. If there’s time, I may read some from The Dragon’s Clause.

The shiny Kindle™ version of my story, “The Dragon’s Clause” is now up and running at Amazon!
Amazon is telling me that it’s “still in the publishing phase” according to my account. Yet, there’s a purchase link!
Go see it here, and then come back and tell me how nifty it looks up on the Amazon Web site. 🙂

I’m excited!
Look at this beautiful cover art by Crystalwizard! Isn’t it fabulous?
I think she did a terrific job of portraying my dragon, Salga di Alato (he’s an Italian Dragon) fire-strafing one of the three towers of San Marino.
This cover art is for my short story, “The Dragon’s Clause,” which I’m re-issuing for Amazon kindle.
(I can’t wait!)
“The Dragon’s Clause” was originally published in the anthology, “Black Dragon, White Dragon,” by Ricasso Press under the name, “San Marino and the Dragon.”
San Marino and the Dragon received a lot of good press. If you’re interested in the reviews, check out this page.
If you enjoy stories about dragons, look into “Black Dragon, White Dragon,” available electronically and in print at Ricasso Press or from Amazon.com (print only).
If you want to read my story, but not purchase the entire collection, you’ll soon get your chance.
You can see more of Crystalwizard’s art at her ArtWanted site.
I’ll let you know when “The Dragon’s Clause” becomes available….in the meantime, why don’t you tell me what you think of the art?
