Hi, Kelly–a bit of a strange question here. I found your 2010 post in honor of Ronnie James Dio in a google search. I’ve been pursuing a few fragmented memories of a storytellers-type show/interview, and I’m pretty sure (but not certain) that it was James Dio. Whoever it was, was a fascinating storyteller, and told a story about an unrecorded jam session. Everybody had shown up stoned, and I recall one line of the story being “[somebody] even showed up with a bottle of Ny-Quil.” The session went on, and the speaker talked about his own strangely inspired guitar playing, hardly able to feel his own fingers, and said, “it was God…playing through me.” (The audience laughed appropriately at the trope.) And of course, it ended with the producer bashing his head repeatedly against the table, having forgotten to press the record button. Since you’re a Dio fan, my question is–do these snippets of detail sound familiar to you? If so, can you give me any indication of what they come from? I’d like to find a soundtrack of that interview/show if I can. -Mike Sutherland
